Winter Treats and Weekly Link Party

We finally got our first good snow of the year--one that's more than just a dusting of powder. That's how it is living in the South. A true snowfall is a rare treat that snowballs into a flurry of school closings, icy roads, cozy mittens, and wet galoshes.

Our yard turning into a winter wonderland had the kids scurrying around for their scarves, hats, and coats. They couldn't wait to get outside and play. So I snuggled them up in multiple layers and the handmade scarves and hats from their Mimi. And they were off! I couldn't help but smile as I watched them make tracks in the snow, sled down the neighbor's hill, engage in a lively snowball fight, and even make a small snowman with a carrot nose.

The snow isn't the only thing to cheer about on a snow day, though! There's also the mugs of hot cocoa and sweet treats to enjoy after the outside fun is done. After my kids had enjoyed as much snowy fun as the freezing temperatures would let them stand, they stepped back into the warmth of the house, peeled off the wet layers, and snuggled under blankets to thaw off. And to enjoy some delicious treats!

If you like to treat your kids to mugs of hot chocolate and other winter-themed confections on snowy days, you're going to love this week's features. From snowflake cookies to polar bear marshmallows, here's a fun collection of treats that are perfect to enjoy this winter.

Valentine's Day Snacks to Make with Kids & Weekly Link Party

Valentine's Day is about one month away with all it's love, hearts, pinkness, and goodies! And few things say, "I love you!" quite like homemade treats. What's better than making homemade snacks for the ones you love? How about making them with the ones you love? Here are several Valentine's Day snacks that are perfect to make with the youngest loves in your life--the kids!
One of my favorite things to do with my kids during the holiday season is to bake and make homemade goodies. Unfortunately, we didn't get all our baking fix this year since the whole family came down with the flu followed up by some secondary infections that required antibiotics. Yuck! I know! We ended up being sick for weeks. And truth be told...we were barely able to even enjoy Christmas.

Valentine's Day is our chance, though. We are going to make all the Valentine's Day treats and snacks that our tummies can handle. LOL! Well, maybe not that many for me since I've been on a roll losing weight--35 pounds now. Yay! But for me making homemade treats is less about making the treats and more about making memories. Wouldn't you agree? So...for this Valentine's Day, here are several snack ideas that'll have you and the kids (or grandkids) making wonderful memories in the kitchen.

1. Heart-shaped Biscuits / Crafting a Family
Little hands would love making these adorable biscuits. Plain or topped with jam, they're an ideal snack for Valentine's Day.

2. Valentine Cookies / The Country Chic Cottage
Aren't these love bug cookies adorable?! It's a quick and easy recipe that the kids will love!

3. Coconut Cherry Angel Bars / From Playdates to Parties
These look and sound delicious! And the best part is that they only require three ingredients to make!

4. Homemade Heart Chocolates Crafting a Family
These homemade treats are so fun! And the possibilities are endless on what you can fill the chocolate bowls with.

5. Chocolate Pretzel Bites The Life of Jennifer Dawn
Here's a treat that's a tasty mix of salty and sweet! Wouldn't these be a fun candy to make and gift to others this Valentine's Day?
