V is for Valentine Preschool Printables and Activities

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, you may be looking for some fun and simple Valentine themed activities to try with your kids.  Here's another fun preschool packet made with PicMonkey--
V is for Valentine!

Writing Readiness
Print this page off, so the kids can trace the uppercase and lowercase letters with their finger.  Then have them use it as a guide to practice writing the letter V on individual dry erase boards or chalkboards.

Reading
The library is filled with fantastic books themed around love and Valentine's Day.  I'm sure your shelves at home have some great options too.
Here are a few of our favorites that fit the theme...
How Do I Love You? by Marion Dane Bauer and illustrated by Caroline Jayne Church
Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney and illustrated by Anita Jeram
Peek-a-boo I Love You! by Lissa Rovetch and illustrated by Paul Meisel
Happy Valentine's Day, Mouse! by Laura Numeroff and illustrated by Felicia Bond
Biscuit's Valentine's Day by Alyssa Satin Capucilli and illustrated by Pat Schories
My Fuzzy Valentine  by Naomi Kleinberg and illustrated by Louis Womble
Minnie's Valentine by Disney Book Group and illustrated by Disney Storybook Art Team
and
Pinkalicious Pink of Hearts by Victoria Kann

Fine Motor
Provide glue and craft pom poms.  Let the kids make a fuzzy heart by gluing pom poms to circles around the heart.

Lacing cards are a great way for kids to practice fine motor skills.  Use a hold punch to punch a hole over each circle.  (You can even let the kids try a few punches on their own.)  Have them thread ribbon or yarn up and down through the holes.
