The Life of Jennifer Dawn: Prayer Request

Prayer Request

It is 4 something in the morning, dear friends.  It's early...like...throw on the first thing that you can grab from the closet, no make-up, bags under the eyes...EARLY.  I have my coffee, scones for my sweet momma, and my purse.  I'm ready to go out the door to meet my family at the downtown hospital where my dad will take a major step towards fighting the pancreatic cancer that he was diagnosed with just a couple of weeks ago.

You may remember when I first shared this diagnosis with you, I asked you to pray.  Well, I am asking for your prayers again.  By the time you wake up and read this (except for the lovely readers in a time zone to the east of me, of course), I will already be sitting with my family in the waiting room of the hospital while my dad is undergoing a Whipple Procedure--a six hour, major surgery.  Please take just a moment to pray for my dad.  Pray for his surgical team.  Pray for my family.  I believe in a God who is "a very present help in times of trouble" according to Psalm 46:1.  I believe in the power of prayer!  Thank you in advance for your prayers!

Update:
Hours and hours later...
This is where we are at...
Due to severe pancreatitis, the surgeon was unable to continue with the Whipple Procedure today. The doctor said he prayed for wisdom before the operation.  It is such a blessing to have a doctor who is a man of faith!  Once he began operating, he felt that continuing the surgery would be the wrong decision. The pancreas was so inflamed that he was unable to get to the cancer. Continuing with the Whipple Procedure today could have cost Daddy his life. He will do chemo for 2-3 months and then they will try again. It appears that the cancer has not spread from the pancreas though which was good news. Even though we can't see down this road right now, maybe the pancreatitis is somehow an answered prayer.  Thank you for your continued support and prayers.
