Fall Memories with FabKids

I never struggle with organizing, purging, and throwing things out until it comes to clothes. Whether it be the items in my own closet or the kids' clothes--especially the kids' clothes--I have a hard time letting go. So many sweet memories seem to attach themselves to garments...

"Oh, that's the dress she wore on her fourth birthday."

"That outfit was worn on the day we planted our first garden together."

He wore that to the pumpkin patch last year."

Anytime I sort through clothes that the kids have outgrown, my mind's eye remembers the memories made in them. Anyone else?

Maybe this is why I've always loved clothing and fashion. And maybe that's why I love FabKids so much.

The outfits from FabKids that I share here each month are ones that the kids have picked out for themselves. Their personalities shine through their picks, and the high-quality clothing is durable enough to withstand loads of memory-making. Listen to me getting all mushy about clothing. I just get so excited to share my little ones in their cute FabKids clothes each month. Here's Eli in his new hooded, striped shirt, jeans, and sneakers from FabKids. These items are perfect for the cooler months of fall, and I can't wait to see all the adventures he has in them this season...

FREE Fall Printable with Anne of Green Gables Quote

It was my mother and father who taught me a love for books and reading at a young age. My mom would tuck me into bed each night with a story and a promise that someday I'd be able to read a story to her. I remember my dad being an avid reader too. He'd devour an entire novel in one or two sittings. Books were in ample supply in our home and when I did learn to read, I'd eagerly grab up every book I could get my hands on.

One of my childhood favorites was Anne of Green Gables. I'd immerse myself into the book almost feeling like I was right there with those colorful characters from Avonlea. I'd sit and sketch drawings of Rose Cottage and endlessly watch both the Road to Avonlea television series and Anne of Green Gables movies. The books were what I loved most though.

Lucy Maud Montgomery was by far one my favorite authors. I can't even begin to count the number of times I checked out her books from the library during my elementary and middle school years. Now into adulthood, Anne of Green Gables still stands as one of my favorites.

There's a quote in the book about this month--October. You've probably read it yourself or seen it floating around somewhere...

"I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers." --L. M. Montgomery

Touring Downtown Charleston in a FabKids Dress

We took our fall break a little early this year and spent the last week of September in Charleston, South Carolina. (One of the perks of homeschooling is picking when to take our own breaks!) Luckily our visit was right before the torrential rains and flooding. Charleston is one of my favorite places, and my heart breaks for those who have been affected by the recent flooding. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them.

This was our first visit to Charleston in the fall. Usually we go during the summer months. For this visit, we still stayed out on Isle of Palms as usual but spent a lot of time walking around downtown Charleston. Lydia Grace is learning about the colonial period for history, so it was the perfect city to explore buildings and artifacts from that era. Touring the Old Exchange Building was a BIG highlight for her. She had so much fun exploring the city in her new outfit from FabKids. Come take a little tour with us past the market and down Rainbow Row...
