Quote Love: "Have Courage and Be Kind" Printables and Craft

My daughter and I went to go see the new Cinderella movie twice at theaters. It was that stunning! Being someone who loves a good fairy tale, I was swept away in the beauty of this version of the timeless story.

I know it faced its fair share of controversy. Shew! What hasn't these days? Some didn't think Ella was a good role model and mistook her kindness for passivity and weakness.  I didn't see it that way though. It took a great more strength to carry on as she did than to retaliate. Retaliation is often the easy, wide road to take. She chose to "turn the other cheek." It was a lesson her mother taught her--to "have courage and be kind."

What a lovely quote! It's a quote just as lovely as the movie itself! Yes, I too wish for my daughter to show kindness to others and to have courage throughout life's journeys.

If you love the quote too, please enjoy these free printables! They are perfect for displaying in a child's room or somewhere else in your home. Just right click, save, open, and print!

You can frame them...

Or you can make this with them...

Wooden Plaque with Quote

Supplies:

  • wooden plaque
  • sponge brush
  • printed quote or image on regular copy paper
  • Mod Podge
  • cup of water
  • acrylic paint (optional)

Directions:

1. Print a copy of your favorite printable and gather your materials. (Optional: You can begin by painting the edges of your wooden plaque with acrylic paint. I preferred to leave the raw wooden edges on mine. If you do choose to paint the edges, allow them to dry before continuing.)

2. Turn the printable over to the back side. Center the plaque on the piece of paper and trace around it. Cut along the traced line.

3. Smear a small amount of water along one of the edges of the printable. Tear along the edge. The water will help the paper tear easily and give it an antiquated look. Continue to do this along all four edges of the paper.

4. Spread a layer of Mod Podge on the front of the wooden plaque and on the back of the printable making sure to cover all of the edges.

5. Carefully center the printable onto the wood and smooth out any bumps or air pockets. Give it a few minutes to dry. Spread a thin layer of Mod Podge over the printable to seal it to the wood. Allow it to dry for at least 30 minutes before displaying or hanging.

Happy crafting!
